Job Summary:
The primary role of the Engineering Technician II is to build, test, and maintain Inogen products, equipment, and lab facilities.The Engineering Technician is a keymember of the R&D team and participates in all product development and support activities. Key responsibilities include assembling, updating, and testing Inogen products and prototypes. Additional key responsibilities include execution of life testing of components and products and investigating field failures.
Responsibilities (Specific tasks, duties, essential functions of the job)
- Participate as a member of the R&D team in product development and sustaining engineering activities to support the engineering team goals and responsibilities.
- Organize and maintain Inogen lab facilities to ensure a productive and safe working environment that aligns with 5S and lean principles.
- Conduct and document verification and validation testing for new products, design changes, software updates and other testing needs as required.
- Establish and monitor life testing of components and systems to meet Inogen's reliability goals.
- Keep all engineering concentrators and components up to date and in good working order.
- Modify and test all change orders and product updates across all engineering products.
- Provide manufacturability and design feedback throughout the development and support phases of the product lifecycle.
- Support engineering personnel by creating test setups, fixtures, harnesses, as required.
- Maintain adequate levels of part inventory throughout the lab including concentrator parts, pneumatic supplies such as fittings and tubing, and hand/power tools required for assembly and test of products. Tools and supplies should be well organized and labeled in accordance with 5s and lean principles.
- Provide consistent attention to reducing defects in manufacturing and field returns through continuous improvement and lean practices.
- Provide support to manufacturing as necessary to maintain production capacity and quality.
- Investigate field failures, as needed, to ensure that failure modes are captured and brought to the attention of the engineering team.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

- Experience in medical devices and FDA regulated environments.
- Experience operating in a lean and 5s based company.
Qualifications (Experience and Education)
- Associate Degree in Engineering, Scientific field or related technical discipline, required.
- Bachelors’ in Engineering, Scientific field or related technical discipline, preferred.
- 5+ years’ of Medical manufacturing experience, required.
- A combination of training, education and experience that is equivalent to the qualifications listed above and that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
